MusiCounts Helps Thousands of Canadians with Proceeds of The House of Marley Headphone Sales.
The gift of giving has extended past the holiday season thanks to Canadians who purchased The House of Marley headphones over the last few months of 2011.
Proceeds from headphones sold have been donated to MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity associated with The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS). MusiCounts’ mission is to ensure all children in Canada have access to a music program through their schools, regardless of socio-economic circumstances and cultural background.
Bob Marley’s son, Rohan Marley and the Marley family launched The House of Marley audio line in October last year. Giving back has always been a focal point for the Marley family.
“I am so happy that House of Marley has been able to partner with MusiCounts, through my family’s charitable organization, 1Love.org. Together, we can help connect youth to music and help them express and share their personal messages in a peaceful and creative way. My father would be very proud,” Rohan Marley said.
The total raised in a few short months, $17,000, will benefit an estimated 8,000 students nationwide. The partnership between The House of Marley and MusiCounts supports Bob Marley’s messages of unity through music to create a better world.
“MusiCounts is proud to be associated with The House of Marley brand, as it carries similar values to our organization and like us, is designed to help bring music, inspiration and vision to the people,” Allan Reid, from MusiCounts says. “The funds raised from each headphone sold in Canada will go towards giving children access to musical instruments and programs that they would not have access to otherwise – helping us nurture future generations of music leaders.”
MusiCounts offers $5,000 and $10,000 musical instrument grants to support music programs in Canadian public schools. With each grant, individual schools can purchase new or used instruments, repair current instruments, update music sheets and stands, and help support a wide range of music programs such as concert and jazz bands, orchestra, wind/string and guitar ensembles and drumming, recorders and ukulele programs.
Shaun Kobrin, CEO of HoMedics - the manufacturer of House of Marley – is urging all Canadians to continue to support the cause and beat the $17,000 mark made in 2011.
“The House of Marley will continue to donate proceeds from every headphone sold throughout 2012 to MusiCounts, as the cause is very close to the Marley family and their organization, 1Love.org,” Kobrin says. “Bob Marley was active in his beliefs on equality, freedom and charity, and that’s why we have formed a partnership between House of Marley and MusiCounts, as they can help put these beliefs into action.”
A brand created in partnership with the Marley family, House of Marley delivers premium quality, eco-friendly products that embody the Marley family’s values of equality, unity, authenticity, sustainability, and charity.
The new headphone range is comprised of three collections – Jammin’, Freedom, and Destiny – and features noise isolating headphones. Suggested retail prices range from $39.99 to $349.99, offering superior audio products for “young gongs” to “conscious connoisseurs.”
The House of Marley headphone and earphone range are available nationally at Future Shop stores, online at futureshop.ca and at select surf, snow and sports retailers.
